The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs will hold Understanding Complex Dynamical Systems: A Forum on Social and Institutional Change on 20 August, 9:00 a.m. at the National Institute of Physics Auditorium, National Science Complex, UP Diliman, Quezon City.
The main thrust of this forum is take stock of what is already known about the complex dynamics of change in the physical and biological worlds, and to determine the relevance of this body of knowledge in enhancing our understanding of the change process that takes place in human society and institutions. This gathering of university experts is important because it is the outcome of a series of informal discussions among several like-minded scholars and academics from multiple disciplines within the UP community, and more importantly, it is intended to be just the first of a continuing series of similar gatherings.
It is hoped that this initiative will give the various sectors of the university ample opportunity to collectively focus on UP and determine how the insights gained from the exchanges would be used in making the national university a more effective catalyst in transforming Philippine society and culture. To ensure the participation of units of the university in other parts of the country, the forum will be streamed live in this link: www.justin.tv/up_forum
