The Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau (ERDB), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) will hold the 1st ASEAN Congress on Mangrove R & D, an inaugural event sponsored by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on December 3 - 7, 2012 at the Century Park Hotel, Manila, Philippines.
The congress will be participated in by delegates from ASEAN member countries with the purpose of providing a forum for the exchange of information among researchers and environment managers on mangrove resources in the SEA region and how it should be sustainably managed. The event comprises of four session topics: a) Ecosystem functions and fisheries, b) Silviculture, foreste and stand, c) climate change adaptation and mitigation and d) Socio-economic issues and valuation. A total of 41 participants from ASEAN member states will give oral and poster paper presentations on the above topics.
Individuals and representatives from government, NGOs, and academe who are doing R and D endeavors on mangrove ecosystems are invited, specially to attend the two-day session at the Century Park Hotel on December 4 and 5. For more information, please download the program invitation and schedule.
