The Philippine Fruit Association, Inc. would like to invite everyone to the 20th National Fruit Symposium on October 23-25, 2012 at the Central Mindanao University (CMU), Musuan, Maramag, Bukidnon. With the theme: “Opportunities and Challenges in Fruit Production Amidst Climate Change”, the symposium aims to provide the participants with the knowledge, skills and strategies in creating opportunities and surmounting challenges amidst the current climate change confronting the country’s fruit production industry.
It includes plenary and technical sessions/oral paper presentations, and poster exhibit. Other features are a farmers’ forum, expert consultation and educational field tour. Highlight of the conference is the recognition and granting of awards to individuals, groups and institutions for their relevant accomplishments and contributions to the advancement of the fruit industry. These include the Leon G. Gonzales Award of Distinction (Individual Award), PFA Award of Distinction (Institutional Award), PFA Honorary Fellows and PFA Achievement Awards (please see attachment for details). Best Paper and Poster awards will also be given (please refer to attachment). Members are encouraged to submit scientific papers and posters for presentation and exhibit under the following topics:
- Health and Nutrition
- Updates/ Advances in Fruit Production and Management
- Crop Diversification
- Fruit Diversity-Germplasm Collection, Breeding and Varietal Improvement
- Organic Fruit Farming
- Crop Protection
- Postharvest Handling, Marketing and Product Utilization
The deadline for submission of ABSTRACTS/PAPERS and NOMINATIONS to the Philippine Fruit Association, Inc. Awards is on September 15, 2012.
The registration fee is P4,000.00 inclusive of symposium kit, souvenir program, dorm-type accommodation, and meals and snacks from October 23 to October 25, 2012.
