Extension of deadline: Call for Proposals for the Cycle 8 of the Emerging Interdisciplinary Research (EIDR) Program

The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs announces the Call for Proposals for the Cycle 8 of the Emerging Interdisciplinary Research (EIDR) ProgramResearchers are invited to submit full proposals (not capsule proposals) that represent the niches of their respective constituent universities (CUs) in creative or research work. Program proposals must show significant and measurable output that can be generated in two years with a budget not exceeding PhP 10M per program each year. 
 
Proposals must exhibit strong foreign and external collaborators, preferably those that belong to a co-member institution of UP in international academic research networks (e.g. APRU, ASEA-Uninet, AUN, KoSaSa). Interdisciplinary, inter-CU collaborations are also encouraged. The proposals will undergo stringent reviews by external experts. Of the fifteen EIDR proposals that will be considered for funding, at least one proposal will be considered each from UP Baguio, UP Cebu, UP Mindanao and UP Visayas.

The deadline for submission of proposals has been extended to 31 July 2016.

Reiteration: Grad School gears towards IGEARD international conference; calls for paper presenters

The UPLB Graduate School is gearing towards a sustainable and inclusive agricultural and rural development through an international conference on the internationalization of graduate education. It invites institution and university leaders, academics, deans, professors and students to come and join the IGEARD - Internationalization of Graduate Education for Agricultural and Rural Development International Conference with the theme "Internationalization of Graduate Education towards Inclusive and Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development".  IGEARD will be held on November 22-23, 2016 in Manila, Philippines. 

Abstract of Papers and Proposed Session

The IGEAR international conference welcomes the submission of abstract of papers and proposals for sessions on the following topics:

  • Internationalization of agriculture graduate curriculum
  • International student and faculty mobility: trends, patterns, issues and challenges

Call for Proposals: Pantawid as Platform for Social Protection

As part of DSWD’s advocacy and commitment to provide comprehensive, holistic and responsive social welfare and development programs and services, the Department with the technical assistance grant from DFAT under Direct Funding Agreement No. 70507 enjoins all private and public Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) or Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) interested in conducting mini-researches for DSWD with Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program as focused area of research. Details of the grant is further provided below:

Research Theme: Pantawid as Platform for Social Protection

Amount of each research grant: PhP 150,000 to a maximum of PhP 500,000 depending on research type and scope of the study

Duration: May 15, 2016 to September 30, 2016

Deadline of submission: June 10, 2016

Call for Papers: 3rd AsiaEngage Regional Conference

The Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, through its ASEAN University Network for University Social Responsibility and Sustainability (AUN USR&S) Secretariat, will be holding its 3rd AsiaEngage Regional Conference. This will be in collaboration with the University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University, and De La Salle University in Manila, Philippines. The theme is "Universities in an Integrating Regional Community: Engagement with Government, Communities, Industries, and Civil Societies." The conference will be held from 21 to 23 November 2016 at the SMX Convention Centre, Pasay City, Manila, Philippines.

Academics and community engagement practitioners are invited to submit their abstracts which will be subject to a review by the conference Scientific Committee. Submissions may be made through the conference website at http://asiaengage.up.edu.ph/until 30 June 2016.

The conference will be an avenue to showcase your institution's sustainable community engagement initiatives and programs, especially those that are integrated into the curriculum. Should an abstract from your esteemed institution be chosen, this could also mean positive publicity for the faculty and university in the form of conference proceedings, highlights in the conference reports, and online publications and visibility.

Organizers are targeting 300-400 participants from across ASEAN and Asia, as well as about 150 papers and 100 posters to be presented. Key attendees would be from various influential international networks, such as the ASEAN University Network and many others.

The pre-registration fee for participants from the Philippines is PhP 8,000.00 inclusive of kits, certificates, snacks and lunch for three days, and dinner on the first night but exclusive of transportation, accommodation, breakfast, and dinner for the subsequent nights.
