UPLB Academic Development Fund for Faculty, Research and Extension Staff, and Students

Financial support from the Academic Development Fund (ADF) for scholarly activities enumerated below shall be made available on a competitive basis. To qualified Faculty, Research and Extension personnel, and students:

  1. Oral paper presentation in international conference;
  2. Page fees for publication of articles in ISI-listed journals; and
  3. Attendance to specialized training programs abroad.

The following guidelines should be observed:

  1. Specialized training programs are those involving cutting edge researches and those which are aligned with the University's strategic initiatives.
  2. Official invitation and other information about the conference;
  3. Copy of abstarct. The paper should be fresh and have not been previously presented in any other conference/gathering;
  4. Budgetary requirement inclusive of all other grants sourced from the sponsors; and
  5. Photocopy of paper to be published (for page fees) and inovice from the journal publisher.

  6. Filing of application using the attached prescribed form (UPLB Academic Development Fund Form, Revised 2013) should be done every January and June of each year properly endorsed by the adviser (for students), Unit Chair/Director and Dean. This should be supported by:
  7. Financial assistance of not more than 500.00 USD in peso equivalent can be availed of every year. It should be noted that only one grant per academic staff shall be considered for the said time frame.
  8. Subsequent requests should show proof of a publication related to the previous oral presentation, training program or page fee supported by this fund. To reiterate, paper for oral presentation must be a publishable work or a publishable article to be authored by the applicant.
  9. Proper clearance from the UPLB Intellectual Property Office should be obtained to protect the intellectual property from prejudicial early disclosure.
  10. A Screening Committee created for the purpose shall evaluate and prioritize requests prior to approval by the Chancellor.
