BIOTECH Philippine National Collection of Microorganisms

The Philippine National Collection of Microorganisms (PNCM) is one of the service laboratories under the BIOTECH Technical Services Program. It is an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Accredited Laboratory for Biological Testing. The PNCM’s prime function is to collect and preserve strains, which have been isolated or acquired by the different projects of BIOTECH.

But due to numerous requests for microbiological analyses, the PNCM also extends various services to student, schools and the private sector.

Detection, enumeration, and identification of various microorganisms are conducted in PNCM for various samples such as food, feed, water, agricultural and environmental samples. Aside from these functions, PNCM also holds three externally funded projects related to corn, rice and environmental research.

Reminders

Personal appearance for inquiries, consultation, submission of samples and payment is discouraged. Transactions can be done remotely via e-mail and phone call. Details on submission of samples, requirements for request of microbial cultures and online payment will also be sent through e-mail.

The laboratory is operating in staggered work schedule to maintain health protocols during the pandemic. Delivery of results takes 4-6 weeks. Clients will also be informed for any changes in the turn-around time.

The laboratory serves different clients from universities, government institutions and private companies. All communications via e-mail will be answered within 3 days.

The BIOTECH-UPLB does not guarantee that the sample(s) submitted corresponds to the batch/lot/shipment delivery indicated nor does BIOTECH guarantee that sample(s) submitted is/are the random preparation of the batch/lot/shipment delivery.
  3. At least 50% down payment is required for processing of samples for analysis and other services excluding sale of cultures in which 100% should be paid for processing of request to commence. For payment in cheque, please make it payable to BIOTECH-UPLB.
