Abstract

The experiment was carried out at the University of Dicle, Faculty of Agriculture, Diyarbakir, Türkiye. In the present investigation, five parents (desi: Black and ICCV 10 and kabuli: ILC 533, Azkan and ILC 482) were crossed in half-diallel to obtain ten F1 hybrids to estimate genetic parameters and combining ability variances for phenological and plants traits. The F1 hybrid combinations were included Black × ILC 533, Black × Azkan, Black × ICCV10, Black × ILC 482, ILC 533 x Azkan, ILC 533 × ICC10, ILC 533 × ILC 482, Azkan × ICCV10, Azkan × ILC 482 and ICCV10 × ILC 482. The experiment was arranged in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Over-dominance for number of days to flowering, but the effective number of genes could not be determined for this trait. The additive gene effect variance was smaller than the dominant gene effect variance for plant height, number of nodes per plant, number of leaflets per leaf. Both additive and non-additive gene actions played a role in controlling trait inheritance. This study indicates that even parents with low GCA can potentially produce heterotic crosses.
