Container Gardening of Culinary Herbs
In the absence of large areas to plant culinary herbs, this container gardening technology or growing plants in suitable containers is a creative approach to optimize soil where land is limited. Herbs used in cooking, namely: oregano (Origanum vulgare L.), rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L.), spearmint (Mentha spicata L.), tarragon (Artemesia dracunculus L.) and Vietnamese basil (Ocimum adscendens Wild) can be grown in 51.5 x 34.5 x 14 cm styrofoam containers. Among the herbs, Vietnamese basil can yield the highest fresh herbage yield. More than 500 g fresh weight/container can be harvested from Vietnamese basil, tarragon and spearmint.
