PCR-based DNA Marking of Important Agricultural Crops
DNA markers are powerful tools that can be used in high-density map construction making it possible to locate genes more precisely than before. The developed protocols measure genetic diversity among lines, varietal identification for fingerprinting of mango and abaca accessions and banana clones. These are important for the analysis of diversity in mungbean and coconut, construction of genome maps in potato, coconut, mungbean, tomato and corn, hybridity testing of corn and coconut hybrids; and quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping of agronomically important traits. End-users of these innovative technologies include researchers, breeders and farmers who plant these crops.
