UPL Ri-17 Rice
This high-yielding upland rice variety was derived from a cross C22/IR26/C22/OS4. It matures in about 115 days from sowing making it the earliest maturing upland rice variety currently used by upland rice farmers. It grows to an average height of 104 cm and produces about 53 productive tillers per 50-cm segment of the row. Tolerance to drought is one of its distinguishing agronomic attributes. This variety is still being used as one of the check varieties from national cooperative trials for upland.
