CG97-16-01 or ‘Sultan 8’ is an industrial variety of cassava, suitable for starch and feed production. It has white flesh and cream cortex with fresh root yield of 39.1 tons/ha. It contains 40.5% root dry and 30.6% root starch. This variety is resistant to spider mites, scale insects, leaf spot and bacterial blight under field conditions. Harvest maturity is 10 months after planting. It is adapted to all regions of the Philippines.
