Assunta Tomato
Also known as XTH 6137, ‘Assunta’ is a table-type semi-indeterminate F1 hybrid tomato variety. It is very vigorous and highly prolific. It flowers 29-32 days after transplanting and fruits can be harvested 30 days after flowering. ‘Assunta’ has small to medium (30-60 g/fruit) plum fruits, firm, and turns red orange when ripe. It yields 20-30 tons/ha during the wet season and 40-60 tons/ha during the dry season. Its fruit quality is highly acceptable and yield performance is excellent, which is comparable and even higher than other commercial F1 hybrid varieties and traditional farmers’ varieties. It is a heat tolerant all-season tomato which can be grown in low elevation as well as in the mid-elevation areas. It can be grown during the hot humid off-season months in a wide range of agro-climatic conditions.
