Metarhizium anisopliae, Telenomus triptus as Biological Control |
---|
The egg parasitoid, Telenomus triptus (Nixon), and the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium anisopliae (Metsch) Sor. have been identified as prime biocontrol agents against the black bug. They can be easily mass cultured and dispersed and they easily reproduce under open field conditions. The use of this technology addresses the need for successful integrated control of large-scale infestation of the black bug. It is economically beneficial to the farmer as it can be integrated with other biocontrol and non-chemical control of the black bug.
