UPLB Pedal Thresher
The machine is a hold-on type thresher wherein the grains are stripped by impact of wire loops attached to the threshing drum. Hence, threshing can be done even if the paddy is wet. It can be easily transported from one farm to another. It is made of a steel frame and canvas, which reduces the cost and weight and cost of the machine, making it transportable from one farm to another. The machine is pedal-operated and uses a bicycle chain and sprocket to transmit power from the human leg to the threshing drum. The drum must have a rotational speed of 200 rpm for effective threshing. The machine has a threshing capacity of 120 kg/hr and a threshing efficiency of 98% with no expected losses. It measures 66 x 53 x 89 cm (LWH) cm in length, 89 cm in height, and 53 cm in width. It can be operated by two persons.
