Subsurface flow constructed wetland system for wastewater treatment of dairy farm |
---|
Water pollution of fresh water sources such as groundwater aquifers and surface water streams is among the major water stresses. One of the point sources of contaminants is disposal of untreated animal farms wastewater – dairy, poultry, livestock, etc. Due to this, intervention of a treatment facility of animal farm wastewater prior to disposal is deemed necessary. The development of a hybrid subsurface flow constructed wetland as secondary and tertiary dairy farm wastewater treatment will provide a better wastewater treatment option for small to medium scale dairy farms. This will also provide a cheap, efficient, practical, socially acceptable and environmentally adapted wastewater treatment system.
