Serological Detection System for Plant Pathogens
This technique involves the use of antibody-based diagnostic kits and detection assays such as ELISA and Dot Blot Immunoassay to detect disease or infection in planting materials. These techniques of detection are important tools in ensuring that the mass-produced tissue culture planting materials are disease-free. The detection kits can also be used to carry out geographic surveys of the distribution of diseases in the country which is essential for quarantine activities and control. The technique can detect ratoon stunting disease of sugarcane, tomato mosaic virus, papaya ringspot, and watermelon mosaic virus.
