The UPLB Journals Online is a web-based service exclusively offered to journals/ technical bulletins published by various units of the University of the Philippines Los Baños or by organizations affiliated with the university.

It aims to serve as the journals' repository, enabling wider dissemination and visibility online of these journals; and to provide journal editors with a convenient way of implementing the editorial process.

Depending on the journals' orientation, articles and review papers may either be full open access or limited. Text or PDF of an article's abstract may be provided, or excerpts of the full article may also be available depending on the journal's access policy.

The UPLB Journals Online is a project managed by the Knowledge Management, Extension, and Public Service Section of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension of UPLB.

  • Asia Pacific Journal of Human Development and Family Studies

    The Asia Pacific Journal of Human Development and Family Studies (AHEAD)  is the bi-annual, double-blind, online, peer-reviewed journal of the DHFDS. It focuses on transdisciplinary research related to human development and family studies. It is a venue for sharing and engaging theories, concepts, practical applications, and research output of academics, practitioners, and policymakers vis-à-vis the fields of human development and family studies. 

  • Journal of Human Ecology and Sustainability

    The Journal of Human Ecology and Sustainability (JHES) aims to publish interdisciplinary research on all aspects of human-environment interactions, community development, and other fields of social science that link with the people, organizations, and government to achieve human-ecological security. This peer-reviewed journal publishes original research, case studies, short communications, and research notes focusing on the development of theory and practice of human ecology in the Philippines and in the international setting.

  • The UP Los Baños Journal

    The U.P. Los Baños Journal is a refereed, multi-disciplinary publication released annually. It serves as a platform for the research and creative endeavors of UPLB constituents who may not find adequate representations in existing uni-disciplinary journals on campus.


    The journal welcomes theoretical and empirical articles across diverse disciplines, as well as imaginative literature in both English and Filipino languages.

  • Makiling Review

    Makiling Review (ISSN 2980-4922) is an international bilingual refereed journal for the humanities of the Department of Humanities, College of Arts and Sciences, University of the Philippines Los Baños. Published twice a year, the journal seeks to promote critical and interdisciplinary scholarship in engagement with contemporary discourses and issues in the arts and humanities in the Philippines, Southeast Asia, and more broadly, the Global South. Submissions to the journal undergo double-blind peer review.

  • The Philippine Journal of Crop Science

    The Philippine Journal of Crop Science (PJCS, abbreviated as Philipp J Crop Sci) publishes original papers on all aspects of crop science and technology, be it in research, instruction, training or extension. Manuscript may be a research report, review, lecture, or policy statement. This reflects the perspective of its publisher, the Crop Science Society of the Philippines (CSSP), when it was founded in 1970 as expressed in the first divisions of CSSP: Crop Production and Management, Processing and Marketing, and Teaching and Extension, a similar outlook in the CSSP: Declaration of Faith. Since 2000, the journal is being co-published by the Federation of Crop Science Societies of the Philippines.

  • Ecosystems and Development Journal

    The ECOSYSTEMS & DEVELOPMENT JOURNAL (ISSN: 2012-3612) is a refereed international journal published semi-annually designed to fill the science-policy interface void in the Philippines and other tropical countries to help legislators, policy-makers, researchers, and natural ecosystems managers become better equipped, more relevant, and more effective. It publishes original research and policy development articles on sustainable development in tropical forest ecosystems and natural resources environment.   • Journal of Economics, Management and Agricultural Development

    The Journal of Economics, Management & Agricultural Development (JEMAD) is an open access peer-reviewed journal published bi-annually by the College of Economics and Management, University of the Philippines Los Baños (CEM-UPLB). JEMAD aspires to be the leading national and regional platform for knowledge generation and exchange in the broad areas of economic and agricultural development, agribusiness management, entrepreneurship, and cooperative development.

  • Journal of Environmental Science and Management

    The Journal of Environmental Science and Management (JESAM) (ISSN 0119-1144) is Web of Science-indexed journal that is produced semi-annually by the University of the Philippines Los Ba˜ños (UPLB).


    It features research articles, theoretical/conceptual papers, discussion papers, book reviews, and theses abstracts on a wide range of environmental topics and issues.

  • Journal of Public Affairs and Development

    The Journal of Public Affairs and Development is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal of the College of Public Affairs and Development, University of the Philippines Los Baños. It seeks to provide a forum to discuss topics such as food securiy, agricultural and social policy studies, rural institutions, local governance, community education, agrarian issues, and development pathways of communities in transition. The Journal caters to readers from a wide range of disciplines, including scientists, practitioners, administrators, policy-makers, and students in social sciences, natural sciences, and related fields.

  • The Philippine Agricultural Scientist

    Founded in January 1911 by the Student Body of the College of Agriculture of the University of the Philippines.


    The Philippine Agricultural Scientist (ISSN 0031-7454), an international journal of tropical agriculture and related sciences, is published quarterly by the College of Agriculture and Food Science, University of the Philippines Los Baños, 4031 College, Laguna, Philippines. Articles may be papers and notes on original fundamental or applied research and, to a limited extent, critical research reviews, professorial chair lectures or book reviews on tropical agricultural science and related areas including environmental science, food science, engineering, biotechnology, economics, extension, rural sociology, development communication, agroforestry and silviculture and marine and fishery sciences.

  • Philippine Journal of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering


    The Philippine Journal of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering with ISSN-0119-7312, is published biannually by the Center for Agri-Fisheries and Biosystems Mechanization (BIOMECH), College of Engineering and Agro-Industrial Technology (CEAT), University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB).


    Established in 1997, the PJABE is a double-blind refereed journal written in English language, which aims to serve as a venue for the dissemination of information on recent research, development, and extension (RDE) outputs in the field of agricultural and biosystems engineering (ABE).

  • Philippine Journal of Veterinary and Animal Sciences

    The Philippine Journal of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (PJVAS) is an open access journal dealing with both basic and applied researches as well as special topics in all species of animals, including companion, laboratory and farm animals and wildlife. It is a peer-reviewed journal which publishes full research works, short communications, case reports and review articles which advance the knowledge of animal and veterinary sciences and enhance the development of the livestock and poultry industry. It is published semi-annually. It is the official journal of the Philippine Society of Animal Science.

  • Philippine Journal of Veterinary Medicine

    The Philippine Journal of Veterinary Medicine (ISSN 0031-7705 print; eISSN 2984-763X online) is a peer-reviewed international journal of basic, applied and translational research in veterinary science. Two issues per year, for the periods of January-June and July-December, are published by the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of the Philippines Los Baños. This journal is abstracted/indexed by: Web of Science: Zoological Record, SCOPUS, and EMBASE.

  • Laksambuhay (formerly Museum Publications in Natural History)

    Laksambuhay, The UPLB Journal of Natural History, is a peer-review scientific journal that focuses on systematics/ taxonomy, ecology, evolution and biogeography as well as the purpose, which are to promote the mission and vision of the UPLB Museum of Natural History (MNH) and to foster understanding, discussion and appreciation among scientists, researchers, students, conservationists and other members of the academe on the abovementioned fields and other related research interests.

  • The Philippine Entomologist

    THE Philippine Entomologist (ISSN 2984-7419) is published semi-annually, from January to June and July to December) by The Philippine Association of Entomologists, Inc. through the Institute of Weed Science, Entomology and Plant Pathology, College of Agriculture and Food Science, University of the Philippines Los Baños.
