Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

  1. Priority in the selection of manuscripts for publication will be given to those that satisfy the following:
    • Products of completed research and written in the English Language;
    • Relevant to the promotion of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering;
    • Have not been previously published nor submitted and undergoing evaluation elsewhere for publication.
  2. Manuscripts for publication must bear all the author/s’ name, title/designation, office/organization, complete mailing address, and e-mail addresses. It should be typewritten using the MS Word format: Times New Roman font, font size 12. Moreover, graphs/illustrations/photographs must be enclosed with the manuscript. Photographs in “jpeg” format with at least 300 dpi high-resolution images should be provided. The manuscript shall contain the segments indicated below:
    • INTRODUCTION – includes the Rationale, Literature Review, and Objectives of the manuscript.
    • MATERIALS AND METHODS OR METHODOLOGY
    • RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
    • CONCLUSION
    • RECOMMENDATIONS
    • ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
    • LITERATURE CITED OR REFERENCES (APA Style)

      Example:

    1. brief and appropriate title;
    2. the author/s’ name, title/designation, office/organization and mailing address, and email addresses;
    3. an abstract with 200 to 300 words (Times New Roman Font), preceding the main body of the manuscript and keywords (maximum of 5 to 6 words) after the abstract;
    4. a body proper/text discussion which shall contain the following sections:
    5. printed double-spaced and with about 5000 up to 6000 words (excluding the titles of tables, figures, and graphs);
    6. supported by authentic sources, references, or bibliography; and
    7. e-copy should be submitted via email or encoded/saved in a Universal Serial Bus (USB) flash drive, if to be personally submitted to BIOMECH-CEAT, UPLB.
  3. The printed copy must be page-numbered (Arabic Numerals) successively at the top center. Table numbers shall precede table titles (e.g. Table 1. Rate of seeding per hectare.). The table numbers should appear at the top left of the table. On the other hand, graphs, maps, and photographs are also considered as figures in which case, the captions must be indicated below the figure preceded by a number (e.g. Figure 1. View of a farm building.). The tables and the figures must be preceded by texts or discussions. Tables must be clearly typed without vertical lines or partitions. Horizontal lines must be drawn only to contain the subtitle heads at the bottom of the table title. All measurements shall be expressed in SI/metric units and numbers shall be rounded off to significant figures.
  4. The manuscript should be submitted through email with a cover letter addressed to the Editor-in-Chief and accomplished co-authors’ agreement form. The submitted manuscript should always contain the authors' information as indicated in Guideline no. 2. Manuscript may be submitted personally or through courier. In this case, the submission should include two (2) printed copies of the manuscript, a cover letter addressed to the Editor-in-Chief and accomplished co-authors’ agreement form, and a USB flash drive containing the e-copy of the manuscript.

Privacy Statement

The Editorial Management shall ensure that all submitted manuscripts that are being considered for possible publication shall undergo a double-blind evaluation process by reviewers/referees.  The Editorial Management also ensures that the reviewers/referees have the expertise to evaluate the manuscript based on its merit for publication in PJABE. 

The Editor-In-Chief, Editors, and Editorial staff shall maintain the evaluation process confidential and shall not divulge any information on the submitted manuscript to anyone other than the reviewers/referees of the manuscript. 

The Editorial Management shall not use unpublished information disclosed in a submitted manuscript for their benefit.  The information in the submitted and unpublished paper submitted to PJABE shall be kept confidential during the evaluation process.  The Editors, Editor-In-Chief, and Editorial Staff shall not be directly involved in the screening and evaluation of manuscripts in which conflict of interest may arise.
