Quick Test for Urease Activitiy in Soybean Oil Meal
This newly modified rapid test determines whether soybean oil meal (SBOM) for animal feeds is properly cooked. Undercooked soybean oil meal increases the amount of antitrypsin enzyme, which prevents the hydrolysis of protein into simple amino acids. On the other hand, overcooked SBOM results in poor protein utilization. This colorimetric-based test is very simple to use and handy. With this test, feed formulators and animal raisers can instantly decide whether to accept or reject a specific batch of cooked SBOM for use in feeding animals.
