NSIC Rc 13 Rice
NSIC Rc 13 or ‘Malagkit 1’ is the first glutinous variety released by the National Seed Industry Council (NSIC) since 1985. It has uniformly opaque grains, low amylase content, and high consumer acceptability and preference. Its cohesive texture, glossy appearance, and good taste are the more notable characteristics. It also yields better than the check variety IR 65. This variety matures in 118-120 days and attains a mean plant height of 86-96 cm. Its release is timely to meet the increasing demand of both farmers and consumers for alternative glutinous rice variety.
