DA-UPLB Drilling Rig Model I
This machine is an improved version of the locally available hydraulic rotary tubewell drilling rig with a number of major comparative advantages. It is low-cost, highly transportable, and easy to set-up. It has two modes of pipe driving, namely: overhead and sleeve hammering and is capable of driving the whole 20 ft standard pipe length on confined aquifers. It can install 2-5 in diameter tubewells at a depth of 30 ft below the ground surface. Most of its parts could be fabricated in machinery shops. The rig could also be used to install tubewells for domestic and industrial uses depending on the water quality. It may be use local well drillers, farmer groups and cooperatives, irrigator associations, and local government units.
