Ultrasonographic features of fetal growth in sows fed activated insulin like-growth factor l-supplemented feed
Insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) is a 70 amino acid long polypeptide hormone involved in metabolic regulation of growth and reproduction in livestock. The present study was conducted to determine the effects of dietary supplementation of activated IGF-I on porcine fetal growth using real-time B-mode ultrasonography. The results obtained in this study demonstrated the potential of activated IGF-I supplementation in increasing fetal growth and consequently, swine production performance.
