The Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Research and Extension (OVCRE) in collaboration with the UPLB REPS Society conducted the 2nd UPLB REPS Conference last 4 March 2015 with the theme “Policy Reforms for Progressive UPLB REPS Governance.”

Research, Extension and Professional staff (REPS) are a valuable resource in the University. They continuously perform a significant role in contributing to the realization of the vision of UP as a World-Class Research University. However, there are various REPS policies and guidelines that affect the general welfare of UPLB REPS in their ability to maximize their potential in pursuing the advancement of the University’s mandate.

Updates on REPS matters discussed during the UPLB Strategic Planning Workshop were discussed. The rationale of the workshop was also presented, as well as the current issues and concerns of the REPS sector. An open forum was also held wherein the participants were able to voice out their questions and concerns.

Participants were then divided into three groups (researchers, extensionists, and professional staff) for the workshop on the position paper and additional concerns. The outputs of each group were then presented before the conference ended.

Vice Chancellor Rex B. Demafelis gave the welcome remarks and Chancellor Fernando C. Sanchez, Jr. also gave a message. Dr. Danilo M. Mendoza, President of the UPLB REPS Society and Ms. Fides Marciana Z. Tambalo, co-chair of the UP REPS System AdHoc Committee, were also present to answer urgent concerns and pressing issues. Dr. Susan May F. Calumpang gave the closing remarks.

The workshop was held at the Nicolas P. Lansigan Hall, CFNR, UPLB.
