UPLB presents awards for Outstanding Personnel for 2015

In celebration of UPLB’s 106th Foundation Day, the university once again gave recognition to its best-performing employees. This year’s awardees for outstanding personnel under the Administrative Staff; Research, Extension, & Professional Staff; and Faculty categories were given their respective awards in a ceremony at the Makiling Ballroom of the Student Union Building on March 5, 2015.
The awards for the Outstanding Administrative staff were awarded by Chancellor Sanchez, Jr., Dr. Zeigler, and Vice Chancellor for Administration Dr. Crisanto A. Dorado. The winners for the Outstanding Administrative Staff are:
- Mr. Elpidio M. Tejano, from the Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems of the College of Forestry and Natural Resources (CFNR), for the Blue Collar category;
- Mr. Eduardo G. Eres, from the Museum of Natural History, for the Technician/Craftsman category;
- Mr. Geronimo M. Reyes, from the University Health Service, for the Office Personnel category;
- Ms. Liza G. Custodio, from the National Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (BIOTECH), for the Supervisor category; and
- Engr. Romulo E. Eusebio, from the Institute of Agricultural Engineering of the College of Engineering and Agro-industrial Technology, for the Professional category.
The awards for the Outstanding Research, Extension, & Professional Staff were awarded by Chancellor Sanchez, Jr., Dr. Zeigler, and Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension Dr. Susan May F. Calumpang. The winners for Outstanding Research, Extension, & Professional Staff are:
- Dr. Sheryl A. Yap, from the Crop Protection Cluster of the College of Agriculture, for Research (Junior Category);
- Dr. Mario V. Navasero, from the National Crop Protection Center of the College of Agriculture’s Crop Protection Cluster (CPC-CA), for Research (Senior Category);
- Dr. Dulce D. Elazequi, from the Center for Strategic Planning & Policy Studies of the College of Public Affairs and Development, for Research (Senior Category);
- Dr. Leni Diamante-Camacho, from the Department of Social Forestry and Forest Governance of the CFNR,for Research (Senior Category);
- Dr. Barbara L. Caoili, from CPC-CA, for Research (Senior Category);
- Prof. Susan Aquino-Ong, from the Crop Science Cluster of the College of Agriculture, for Outstanding Artist;
- The ASEAN-Korea Environmental Cooperation Project (AKECOP-Philippines) for the Research Team category; and
- The Cereals Section of the Institute of Plant Breeding, College of Agriculture for the Extension Team category.
The awards for Outstanding Faculty (Outstanding Teacher) were awarded by Chancellor Sanchez, Jr., Dr. Zeigler, and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Portia G. Lapitan. The winners for Outstanding Faculty (Outstanding Teacher) are:
- Prof. Ivy Amor F. Lambio, from the Institute of Biological Sciences of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), for the Biological Sciences (Senior Category);
- Prof. Reginald Neil C. Recario, from the Institute of Computer Science of the College of Arts and Sciences, for Physical Sciences (Junior Category);
- Dr. Liza N. Comia, from the Institute of Statistics of the College of Arts and Sciences, for Physical Sciences (Senior Category);
- Prof. Gemalyn H. Lozano, from the Department of Humanities of the College of Arts and Sciences, for Social Sciences (Junior Category) and;
- Prof. Loida E. Mojica, from the Department of Agribusiness Management & Entrepreneurship of the College of Economics and Management, for Social Sciences (Junior Category).
Dr. Marish S. Madlangbayan, UPLB’s Vice Chancellor for Planning & Development, delivered the welcome remarks. UPLB Chancellor Dr. Fernando C. Sanchez, Jr. delivered an inspirational message afterwards. The International Rice Research Institute’s Director General, Dr. Robert S. Zeigler, delivered the Keynote for the event. Prof. Loida E. Mojica also addressed the room as she delivered the Response from the Awardees after the presentation of the awards. Afterwards, Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs Dr. Serlie Barroga-Jamias gave the closing remarks that officially closed the event.
