OC Memo No. 001 s.2022: Call for Applications to the Scientific Career Merit System

The Scientific Career Merit System is an institutionalized recognition and reward system co-implemented by the Department of Science and Technology and the Civil Service Commission that confers Scientist rank on qualified researchers in the government service.

All qualified UPLB Research, Extension, and Professional Staff (REPS) are therefore encouraged to submit applications to the UPLB Scientific Career Evaluation System Committee, OVCRE until 30 April 2022.


Call for Proposals for the ACIAR/IRDC Research Program on One Health (AIRPOH)

The Australian Center for International Agricultural Research and the International Development Research Centre of Canada are accepting proposals for the Research Program on One Health.

The program acknowledges the linkage between food security and human health through the One Health Approach. It aims to promote a collaborative, multi-sectoral, and integrated approach to ensure the health of humans, animals, and our environment.

The deadline for the online submission of research proposals is on 10 January 2022.


Call for nominations for the 2022 Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos

The Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos (OF) Award is the most prestigious career-service award for Filipino exemplars in the academe, the military, and the police force. It pays tribute to the excellence and sacrifices of Filipino teachers, soldiers, and police officers who have gone over and beyond the call of duty to serve their profession and their community.

Ten (10) Filipino exemplars – 4 teachers, 3 soldiers, and 3 police officers – will be recognized for their initiatives and concrete contributions to the development of their sector and communities.

The deadline for the submission of nominations is on 31 December 2021.


Consultation held on the proposed UPLB Extension Agenda

After the university-wide consultative meeting for the UPLB Research Agenda was held on July 21, a similar activity was virtually held on Sept. 29, this time to consult UPLB personnel numbering 160 on the proposed extension agenda or the framework for developing and implementing extension programs and services.


PCIEERD's 2022 Call for Proposals for Human Resources Development Program

The DOST - Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD) is pleased to announce its 2022 Call for Proposals for Human Resources Development Program (HRDP) under the Capability Development Program.

For 2022, PCIEERD allotted a budget of Php 27 million for the provision of grants for 59 HRDP grantees/activities. Preference is given to researchers and/or institutions who are new to the R&D ecosystem. The deadline of submission of proposals is on 31 December 2021.


SEARCA's Annual Photo Contest and Publications

The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) has an ongoing photo contest with the theme "One Health is Wealth: Healthy Agriculture and Sustainable Food Systems amidst COVID-19". The contest is open to all Southeast Asian nationals until 30 November 2021. For more details, visit

Additionally, SEARCA is exploring translation to further expand the reach of academic or scholarly publications. All UPLB REPS and faculty members who have local language publication that will benefit from being published in English or an English language publication that will have an increased impact or appreciation if translated to a local SEAMEO member country language are welcome to explore this opportunity with SEARCA.

The internationally refereed Asian Journal of Agriculture and Development (AJAD) is also accepting submissions from young and upcoming faculty and researchers, as well as editorials, letters and book reviews from distinguished experts and leaders in their field. AJAD publishes a variety of agriculture and development-related articles relating to Southeast, South, and East Asia.


2021 Call for Joint R&D Proposals with DST-India

The Department of Science and Technology announces the launch of the 2021 Call for Joint R&D Proposals with DST-India for four research areas. Interested parties are advised to coordinate with prospective collaborator in India to craft the full-blown proposals.

The deadline of submission is on 17 January 2022.


OC Memo No. 140 s.2021: Invitation to Participate in the 2021 National Science and Technology Week Activities

Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 780 s. 2019, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) celebrates the annual National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) every fourth week of November to showcase “the significant contributions of science and technology (S&T) to national development” and serve as a “platform for heralding S&T advocacy in the country.”

This year, NSTW 2021 will be held virtually from 22 to 28 November with the theme Agham at Teknolohiya: Tugon sa Hamon ng Panahon.
